Set floor texturesYou can import your own floor textures into the editor of EMERGENCY 4, but you also can use existing textures from the game.
Loading existing textures
With the option 'Edit -> Terrain' (function key F2) you can load existing floor textures by following the steps below:
'Floor' -> 'Load texture' - Right side: Double click on maps - Left side: mark e.g. 'm01.eft' - Then click on 'OK'
Create new floor texturesYou can also create your own floor textures with graphic programs. If you want to import them in to the editor, the texture has to be saved with the following specifications:
- The extends of the texture have to be a multiple of 512 pixel both in width and heigt
- The texture has to be saved as uncompressed TGA file (24 Bit)
- The texture can't be bigger than 8192 x 8192 pixel
- Scale: One meter is 12,5 Pixel. The maximum extend of the map is 655,36m².
You can load your own textures with the option 'Edit -> Terrain' (function key F2):
'Floor' -> 'Import texture' - Right side: Choose the directory, where you've placed the textur - Left side: mark the TGA file, e.g. 'example.tga' - Click 'OK'
Now you can choose the save directory and the file name of the converted EFT file (EFT = EMERGENCY floor texture) and click 'OK'
In this example the file was placed in the path 'Maps/test.eft'. The imported texture will be placed in tiles on the floor starting in the center of the map until the maximum map sizes is reached.
Edit heights of the terrainYou can edit the heights of the terrain in a grayscale image with the option 'Edit -> Terrain' (function key F2) and the function 'Edit -> Show heightmap'. The wire frame model (function key F11) helps you to see the different height differences more accurately.
Terrain brushesWith terrain brushes you can edit the terrain by pressing the left mouse button and editing the contures of the terrain. With 'Raise' you can raise the terrain and with 'Lower' you can lower it.
The function 'Set' can be used to place certain heights on the floor. With the right mouse button you can save the height in a certain spot.
The function 'Soften' can be used to smooth the contures of the terrain. You also can change the strength and the size of the brushes for all of the four functions.
Create masksThe 'Edit Masks' mode can be used, to forbid height editing in certain areas. If you have created a new mask or editied it, you'll have to deactivate the mode before you can start editing the terrain again.
